With far reaching views from both sets of French windows, in your Suite, lie back in the Super King bed and wake up to the stunning views, or sit having your morning coffee/evening drink in the bedroom, living room or decking. There is a viewpoint on the croft, so you can see the majestic Cullin Mountain Range from a wee hillock, or just enjoy the amazing sunsets looking over to Struan and Gesto across the water.

Woodland Lodge offers a luxury accommodation experience on the Isle of Skye.

Our self contained suite contains a super king size bed which offers great views of the Isle of Skye.

A PROPERTY WITH A RICH HISTORY

The Host’s Grandfather Allan MacLeod tenanted this croft from 1923, he came from Harris in the Western Isles after serving in the Merchant Navy during the War of 1914-1918, WW1. The Government at the time of recruitment, promised them a “land fit for heroes” on their return. There was no land or employment available for them in Harris or Lewis at the end of the War.

The Macleod’s of Dunvegan Castle owned the ground here, however in 1919 they encountered financial difficulties, so the Board of Agriculture purchased the land, in 1920, and tenanted it with the ex servicemen from Harris and Lewis, 68 families came in total, (400 people).

Many descendants of the original families still live here.

We are the third & fourth generation of the original settlers, to live on this croft and in 2023 we will be celebrating 100 years here.

Enjoy the tranquillity by the sea, of absolute peace and quiet, with only the stunning views to distract you. We regularly see Sea Eagles, and Roe deer in the early morning or dusk playing in the fields, outside your windows. They are extremely timid so go quietly if you wish to photograph them. Have a walk around the croft at your leisure.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We have no cooking facilities in the Suite

We do not have amenities to take children or pets.

We do not have the ability to accommodate any additional guests, for two adults sharing only.

Used crockery and towels can be left outside your Suite and will be replaced on a daily basis if required.

If you are walking or climbing and have wet outdoor clothing/boots please let us know by text and we will hang up in our garage for you ready to use the next day.

Check in from 4pm.

Check out at 10am.

Minimum three night stay.

Cancellation up to 30 days or payment will be taken in full.
